The short answer: never pull it off. Cover the piece with a fresh sheet of paper, run the iron over it on medium for a few seconds to soften the wax, then peel the wax paper away slowly. Rubbing alcohol removes any wax that stays behind.
Wax paper is not made for the heat beads need. The wax melts into the gaps between beads and cools into a bond. Pulling while it is stuck tears beads out of the piece. Gentle heat reverses the process.
How to free the paper
- Place a fresh sheet of parchment over the stuck wax paper.
- Iron on medium heat for five to ten seconds. Enough to warm the wax, not enough to melt the beads again.
- Lift one corner of the wax paper while it is still warm and peel very slowly.
- If a spot resists, warm it again and continue. Never yank.
- For leftover wax, dab a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and wipe. Test on a hidden spot first.
