The short answer: hot glue for quick jobs, E6000 for permanent bonds, and a two-part epoxy when you need maximum strength. Skip super glue and solvent glues: they dissolve the bead plastic and leave white marks.
Fused perler beads do not need glue to stay together, the iron does that job. Glue comes in when you attach beads to something else: a keychain ring, a magnet, a frame, or a piece of fabric.
Glue by job
- Hot glue: best all-rounder. Bonds beads to most surfaces in seconds, peels off easily, safe enough for kids with supervision. Great for keychains and magnets.
- E6000: flexible, very strong, works on fabric and wood. Needs 24 hours to cure and smells strong, so use it in a ventilated room.
- Two-part epoxy: the strongest option for glass, metal, or outdoor use. Overkill for most projects.
- Super glue (cyanoacrylate): avoid it. It can fog the bead surface and bond badly on soft plastic.
How to apply glue to beads
Clean both surfaces first, then apply a small amount, press, and hold for ten seconds. Less glue is better: excess shows as white blobs.
