Keychains are the perfect first project: small enough to finish in one sitting, sturdy enough to survive real use, and cheap enough to give away. They also teach the two skills that matter in beading: reading a pattern and ironing evenly.
Steps
- Pattern: start with something 10-15 beads wide. Hearts, stars, animals, and initials all work.
- Build: place the beads on a small pegboard following the pattern grid.
- Iron: cover with parchment and fuse the front, then flip and fuse the back fully. A keychain needs both sides.
- Cool: let it cool flat under a book so it does not warp.
- Attach: open a split ring, slide it through two holes at the top, and close it.
