The short answer: two ways: fuse beads into a flexible strip shaped on the pegboard, or string loose beads onto elastic cord. Both take under twenty minutes.
Bracelets are a favorite kids project because they mix the two halves of beading: fusing and stringing. Each method below gives a different look, and both use supplies you already have.
Method 1: fused strip
- Build a long strip 4-6 beads wide on a rectangular pegboard.
- Iron just enough to fuse the beads, keeping the strip flexible.
- While warm, bend the strip into a circle and press the ends together to fuse them.
- Hold the seam flat for a few seconds until it cools.
Method 2: strung beads
- Measure the wrist and add a finger width for comfort.
- Thread beads onto elastic cord in any pattern you like.
- Tie a secure double knot and trim the ends.
- Tuck the knot inside a bead with a dab of glue if it slips.
Fused strips look like classic bead art; strung bracelets are quicker and easier for young kids. Both make great gifts. Find patterns for both styles in our pattern library and elastic cord in our shop.
