The short answer: yes, this is the easiest fix in beading. Put the piece back on the pegboard, cover with fresh parchment, and iron again at medium heat for ten seconds per area until the beads fuse.
Under-melted pieces fall apart in the hand because the beads only fused on the surface. The beads below are still separate. More heat is all they need, and the design stays exactly as it was.
Step by step
- Lay the loose piece back on a pegboard so it keeps its shape while you work.
- Cover with fresh parchment, never the old waxed or used sheet.
- Iron at medium heat in slow circles, ten seconds per area, pressing firmly.
- Let it cool slightly, flip it over, and repeat on the back so both sides fuse.
- Check strength at the edges before taking it off the board.
If the piece is fragile but not falling apart, skip the pegboard: just iron both sides under fresh parchment directly on the work surface. For a detailed temperature and timing guide, see our ironing guide.
