What Are Perler Bead Templates?

The short answer: templates are printable grid charts where each square is one bead. Print at 100% scale, slide them under a clear pegboard, and place beads directly over the squares.

You will hear three words for the same thing: template, pattern, and chart. All of them mean a pixel-style grid that tells you where each bead goes. Templates are simply the printable version.

How to use a template

  1. Print the template at 100% scale, never shrink-to-fit, so squares match bead size.
  2. Lay it under a clear pegboard, aligning the grid lines with the peg rows.
  3. Place one bead per square, following the colors row by row.
  4. Remove the template before ironing; parchment paper goes on top of the beads.
