Step by step
- Pick a photo with a clear subject and a simple background.
- Choose the grid size: 29 by 29 for one board, up to 100 by 100 for large pieces.
- Reduce colors to the bead colors you already own, usually 10 to 15 for a good result.
- Check the preview and fix the areas that look muddy by hand.
- Count beads per color and confirm you have enough before starting.
Getting the best results
- More pixels is not always better: 60 by 60 usually looks cleaner than 100 by 100 for small subjects.
- Crop tight: cut away the background before converting, it saves hundreds of beads.
- Keep contrast: dark outlines around a light subject survive pixelation.
- Test one color first: make a 10 by 10 sample with a single color to see if the result matches your idea.
