Pokemon and beads are a match made in pixel heaven. The official sprite art is already a grid, the colors translate well to bead palettes, and every generation has a fanbase that will love a handmade gift.
Best starters
- Pikachu: yellow body, black ear tips, and red cheeks. Two or three colors only.
- Charmander: orange with a flame tail. Simple and striking.
- Eevee: a soft brown with cream details, great for beginners.
- Pokeball: not a Pokemon, but the easiest recognizable project, and a good warm-up.
Build tips
- Pick a sprite from the official games; fan sprites vary in quality.
- Map the sprite colors to the closest bead colors before you start.
- Build from the outline inward so the body shape stays correct.
- Iron both sides and cool flat, then trim any melted edges.
