The short answer: yes, perfectly. Hama and Perler pegboards share the same peg spacing, so Hama beads sit firmly on Perler boards and Perler beads on Hama boards. The rows line up exactly because the spacing is identical.
This compatibility is why mixing brands is so common. The boards, beads, and patterns all work together as if they were one brand.
What is compatible
- Standard 5 mm beads: fit Perler, Hama, Artkal, and generic boards without any issue.
- Mini 2.6 mm beads: also interchangeable across brands, on mini boards.
- Shaped boards: heart and circle boards work with any brand’s standard beads.
- Patterns: any grid pattern works on any brand’s board, since the peg count matches.
The one thing to check
Brand locking tabs differ, so boards from different brands do not always snap together side by side. The beads are fine; only board-to-board connections can be finicky. Our pegboard size guide covers the sizes, and our brand comparison explains the details. Boards and beads of both brands are in our shop.
