How to Convert an Image to a Perler Bead Pattern

The five settings that matter

1. Grid size: the width in beads. 29 fits one board, 50 to 60 suits most large pieces.
2. Color count: fewer colors look cleaner and cost less. Start at 10, raise only if needed.
3. Palette: restrict to the beads you own, or every color will be a new purchase.
4. Background: transparent or plain backgrounds convert without noise.
5. Preview: always check it before downloading, then fix muddy areas by hand.

After the conversion

1. Download or print the grid with bead counts per color.
2. Check your stash against the counts before buying anything.
3. Build darkest colors first, then fill the lighter areas.
