How to Use Perler Bead Tweezers and Tools

The short answer: grip a bead on its sides, not the top, and lower it straight down onto the peg. Push it flush with the eraser end of a pencil, which saves your fingers and keeps rows even. That covers most of what tools do for you.

The craft is mostly fingers and patience. A small set of tools removes the annoying parts: dropping beads, correcting mistakes, and pressing rows flat.

Tweezers, done right

  1. Pick a bead from the pile by gripping its sides with the tips.
  2. Bring it over the peg and release straight down. Dropping it at an angle knocks the row.
  3. To correct a wrong bead, grip it, lift it straight up, and set it aside.
  4. For mini beads, angle the tweezers slightly so the tip sits inside the bead hole.

The other tools worth having

  • Pencil eraser: press each bead flush after placing it. Rows stay even and beads do not roll.
  • Small brush: sweeps spilled beads into a tray instead of the floor.
  • Tray or lid: keeps the working pile contained. Any shallow dish works.
  • Magnet sheet: optional, holds a needle or tweezer so they do not roll away.

None of these are required, and none of them fix a melted board or a badly ironed piece. For that you need the ironing technique. Start with our beginner patterns to practice, and tweezers, trays, and boards are in our shop.
